Note* | Although Richard and Frances arrived on the same ship they were not married. Frances was married to Frederick Friend who drowned in the Swan River in 1831. Frances and Richard were married on 16 September 1831. Richard was indentured to the Hentys. He was then employed by Charles McFaull. He then leased Camfields farm and Inns at Burswood. He was also a farmer at Clayton, Guildford 1844-1851. In 1857 was at Deans Farm, Northam. The 1859 Census lists him at Salt River. He employed 6 ticket-of-leave labourers from 1859-1868. He was an illiterate Protestant. Richard died in 1868 aged 70 years and is buried in Northam Cemetery and Frances who died in 1870 aged 71 years is buried at Guildford. Their daughter Eliza married John Thomas Smith son of Richard and Mary.2 |
