Residence* | He lived on 1 June 1929 at Mount Lawley, Western AustraliaG; 49 Clotilde St. |
Note* | Articles and advertisements about George owning Perth Building Lot V28 and part of Lot V29 between 1883 and 1885 when it was sold under a mortagee sale for 1050 pounds led me to Landgate. I discovered a declaration from George Hayman (senior) stating that George Hayman "the younger" was originally George Pindar son of Sabina Pindar whom George married in 1863. No mention of the father!
I had previously assumed that George had been the son of George Hayman and Bridget O'Connell. I have since found the baptism details for George Pindar.
Charles Wittenoom left the land for George Pindar/Hayman to have ownership of once he turned 21. Hence why George Snr stated that he had lived there for 19 years and paid no rent. Although the land remained in the name of the solicitor until George reached 21 in 1863, it would explain why the Perth rate books show Mrs Hayman as the owner.
Charles was not really in Perth much around the time that George was conceived in 1860. Charles was left the property by his brother, Frederick in 1863. Frederick was a batchelor liiving Perth whereas Charles lived in York. Frederick was the Sheriff of the Colony and Acting Colonial Treasurer when he died. It seems probable that George Pindar may have been the son of Frederick Wittenoom and Sabina Pindar. |
